Motorelli has recently supplied a 1.4Mw 6.1Kv MV VFD to a mine in Sweden, which will be used to de-water a gold mine shaft – it will run a borehole motor at over 1000 meters deep. The #VariableSpeedDrive (VSD) supplied was FAT tested at the factory under full load with the customer present. This specific application required Ethernet IP communication to communicate to the PLC, which was also tested during the FAT. The specific solution also included a large output reactor to handle the extremely long cable length to accommodate the motor running at over 1000 meters underground.

Our MV VFD’s use phase-shifting transformers of very high quality, that compare to market leaders such as Siemens and ABB. The windings used in the phase-shifting transformer are made from copper and are rated as class H insulation, which include both the “Primary Windings” and “Secondary Windings”. This allows our MV VFD’s to meet very low harmonic levels (≤2% THD) as well as achieve very high efficiency at close to 97% efficiency. We included a manual bypass system which allows you to isolate the incoming or outgoing supply. Our power cells are of the highest quality, and each power cell has temperature alarm and trip monitoring.

We have multiple communication protocols available which the customer can choose from including Ethernet IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus, Profinet, Profibus etc. Our 10” HMI allows for recording of operation, system information and fault history, which stores up to 2 years of history.
